LECTURE THEATER:
SCULPTURE TALK BY BRENDAN JAMISON
Start time: 11am
Duration: 45 minute presentation + 15 minutes for questions and answers.
The lecture theater is located on the ground floor of the Ulster Museum. FREE ENTRY.

International sculptor Brendan Jamison is an associate of the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts (Belfast) and the Royal British Society of Sculptors (London). He will discuss his sugar cube carvings, wax works and wool sculptures created over the past 9 years since graduating with a Master in Fine Art in 2004 from the University of Ulster. The powerpoint presentation will include recent projects in London, covering the commission of Tate Modern and a 10 Downing Street exhibition as well as other international shows in America and Asia. He will alos discuss new works for an upcoming solo exhibition in Berlin in September 2013, a project based on the Teufelsberg Spy Station, a secret listening base that was built by the American Intelligence services in 1963, with the 50th anniversary to be celebrated this year.

The Ormeau Baths Gallery is located 5 minutes walk from Belfast City Hall. It was originally built as a Victorian Bath House and transformed into an art gallery in 1995. FREE ENTRY. |

BELFAST CITY HALL
Lunch break in the gounds of city hall.
Duration: 60 minutes.
On wet days visitors can eat in 'The Bobbin Cafe' inside the city hall, but the grounds are also surrounded by cafes and shops selling sandwiches. Fast food chains such as 'Kentucky Fried Chicken', 'McDonalds' and 'Burger King' are all located on the main shopping street directly opposite the front entrance to the grounds.
It is also worth a short visit inside City Hall to admire the remarkable interior architecture, even if only for 5 minutes to view the entrance foyer with a view up to the dome above. FREE ENTRY. |

GOLDEN THREAD GALLERY

Situated opposite St. Anne's Square in the Cathedral Quarter, the Golden Thread Gallery (GTG) is Northern Ireland's leading contemporary art space. The ground floor houses two large galleries at the rear and a smaller project space at the front. The GTG is funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council. FREE ENTRY.

FLAX ART STUDIOS ARTIST TALK:
Dr. Aisling O'Beirn
Start time: 3:45pm
Duration: 45 minute presentation + 15 minutes for questions and answers.
Aisling O' Beirn was born in Galway, Ireland, and is now based in Belfast. Her current work is concerned with exploring spatial politics encompassing subjects as diverse as the technologies behind space exploration to the very localised practice of nicknaming places and landmarks. Research takes the form of a constantly expanding collection of vernacular information ranging from urban myths, anecdotes, place nicknames and hand drawn maps gathered from various locations.
O' Beirn represented Northern Ireland at the 2005 Venice Biennale and she is an Associate Lecturer in Sculpture at the University of Ulster.

Flaxart is an artist-run organisation that was founded in 1989 by a group of recent graduates seeking space to make large-scale sculpture and installation artworks.
It features an industrial scale workshop, 7 large studio spaces, 11 smaller studio spaces, an international residency space and a communal fabrication area. |
